During the Meet
Events will be called to the ready area to stage swimmers 4-5 events ahead of what event is in the water. This helps us locate swimmers in time and ensure that the next race is ready to enter the water as soon as the previous one finishes. For example, when event 1 is on the blocks, swimmers from events 2 and 3 are lined up behind them ready to go. This keeps the meet moving as quickly as possible. Please pay attention to what events are being called to the ready area.
All the pools in our league are 25 yards in length. Race length varies by age group from 25-200 yards so pay attention when timing. For example, a 50 yard race is from the starting blocks, flip turn at the opposite end and back to the starting blocks, a 100 is down and back twice, etc.
Some events will have more than 8 swimmers. In that case, there will be multiple heats of the same event. The first 8 swimmers are heat 1, the next 8 are heat 2, etc. We rarely have more than 2 heats of any event at our dual meets.
The length of the meet will vary depending on the size of the teams. In the past, meets were typically done by noon. Some may be done earlier and some may go longer but it should not be an all day event.
